State Street School
Next Wednesday, Oct. 9th, is the International Walk to School Day. The traditional walk from the PC parking lot at 7:00 a.m. will occur. In addition, in the spirit of being a K-12 united school, the State Street students will be paired with Jr/Sr High School students to converse, get to know each other, and walk around the mile square starting at 10:30.
State Street School has once again been awarded over $15,000 by Vermont's Child Nutrition Programs for fresh fruits and vegetables for the 2013-14 school year . This grant allows us to continue providing free fresh fruits to our children at snack time. Thank you Donna Ewald and Bob Cerra for your continued effort in promoting healthy eating habits.
On Wednesday April 24th our students and staff joined a nationwide effort to improve health by taking a brisk walk at lunchtime. According to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, the “cost to treat illness and chronic disease caused by inactive lifestyles is nearly $1,000 for every family in America, every year.” Studies show that 30 minutes of moderate exercise five times a week has significant health benefits.
